World Teacher Day!

Teachers play a vital role in society as a whole because they have the ability to impact children and young adults. For this reason, they deserve a little recognition and a day to celebrate and honor them! That day is today, October 5th! In 1966, a UNESCO and the International Labour Organization held a conference on October 5th where they set up a special recommendation on Teachers. They used the date of this event to be the date to honor and recognize teachers around the world. However, it wasn’t until the 1993 International Conference on Education in Geneva that “World Teachers’ Day” gained its title by the Director-General of UNESCO, Federico Mayor.

Sometimes teachers influence children’s lives more than anyone else. They shape the hearts and minds of children and young adults through what they teach as well as through the relationships they develop with them. Teachers also have a great impact on shaping the beliefs, values, and behaviors of those students they have built relationships with. So find those teachers who impacted you the most and celebrate them today by encouraging them and letting them know what they did for you!

If you are a teacher, Happy World Teacher Day!
