World Gratitude Day!

September 21st is World Gratitude Day! (That’s today!) World Gratitude Day is our chance to show our gratitude, or how thankful we are for the great things that people and groups do. The United Nations Meditation Group made World Gratitude Day to give “an award to someone who we feel has done something outstanding in the spirit of Globalism.” (http://www.srichinmoylibrary.com/sm-13) They also say that we should use this day to find something to be thankful for and enjoy the feeling! World Gratitude Day began in 1965 when the International East-West Center in Hawaii was celebrating a Thanksgiving Dinner together. During the dinner, everyone decided to go home and make September 21st World Gratitude Day in their home countries. This has become an annual event.

We can celebrate this fun day on a smaller level by thanking the people in our lives for the wonderful things they do. Thanking someone can be done with a simple “Thank you!” or by giving them a card to say thank you. Who are you thankful for and why? Let us know!
